Textle Core 2-20

The best source for how-to stitch info is Needle'nThread.

For Crazy Quilts one of the basics is the Chain Stitch.
Or the Fly Stitch
My favorite , the Buttonhole Stitch.
This is a short video from the American Museum of Folk Art.

This link shows how sewing needles are made.
And this link (in French) takes you on a tour of  DMC embroidery floss production.

Unraveling the Mysteries of Textiles IN Artworks

A short introduction to the 2014-15 Docent Textile Core! I keep saying 'to know textiles is to know history'.

A BBC Documentary about why clothes matter, why textiles matter and how fashion plays into it all. About an hour but worth every moment.

This video is not about Ariel but it is about 100 years of fashion, music and dance in about 100 seconds!
Delightful to watch.

And finally a short clip of why the fashion arts ARE important.*The clip about the blue sweater is supposed to appear here. Every time I link to it, I get a video about corn chowder! If you Google 'blue sweater devil wears Prada' you'll get to it.

The Eyes Have It

This drawing/painting stopped me in my tracks this morning. It's About Time
posted this in a story about Lucas Cranach a couple months ago.
When you see a perfectly finished painting it is so easy to forget the blank page it springs from.
I find the contrast a little unsettling but in the most awe inspiring way. Once you lock eyes with this Princess Elizabeth of Saxony it is hard to look away.
